SOLIDWORKS® Design

Professional 3D CAD for Every Engineer

Industry-standard 3D CAD with parametric modeling, simulation, and cloud collaboration. Available in four tiers to match your engineering workflow.

The World’s Most-Used 3D CAD Platform

8 million engineers. 500,000 companies. Solid modeling, assemblies, 2D drawings, and simulation — all in one environment built for manufacturing.

  • Parametric solid modeling with assembly design and production-ready 2D drawings
  • Four tiers — Standard, Professional, Premium, Ultimate — upgrade as you grow
  • Named User License: assigned to you, works on any machine
  • SOLIDWORKS 2026: AI drawing automation and the AURA design assistant
SOLIDWORKS Authorized Reseller Morphos 3D is an authorized SOLIDWORKS reseller with deep manufacturing expertise.
Why Morphos for SOLIDWORKS: We understand what happens after the model leaves engineering. Our team has deep experience in manufacturing, CAM programming, inspection, and shop floor operations. That means we help you set up SOLIDWORKS not just for design, but for the entire downstream process: drawings that machine shops can actually use, models that feed cleanly into CAM, and data structures that scale with your business.

What You Can Do with SOLIDWORKS Design

Core Modeling
Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings

Build fully detailed 3D parts using feature-based parametric modeling, then bring them together in assemblies that capture real-world relationships like mates, motion, and interference. Generate production-ready 2D drawings directly from the 3D model, with dimensions, tolerances, and BOMs that update automatically when the design changes.

  • Multi-body parts and split/combine workflows
  • Top-down and bottom-up assembly design
  • Automated BOM generation with custom properties
  • Sheet metal flat patterns with bend tables
  • Weldment profiles and cut lists

For manufacturing teams: SOLIDWORKS drawings include GD&T, surface finish callouts, and manufacturing notes that your shop floor can work from directly. We help configure drawing templates so they match your internal standards from day one.
Validation
Simulation and Analysis

Test your designs before cutting metal. SOLIDWORKS Simulation tools run inside the CAD environment, so you can check stress, displacement, thermal behavior, and motion without exporting to a separate tool. Premium and Ultimate tiers add linear static analysis, motion studies, and fatigue analysis.

  • Static stress analysis (FEA)
  • Thermal analysis
  • Motion analysis with motors, springs, and gravity
  • Design optimization studies
  • Factor of safety and displacement plots

Why this matters downstream: Catching structural issues in the model means fewer ECNs after manufacturing has started. We have seen shops waste weeks reworking tooling because a design assumption was never validated. Simulation prevents that.
Data Management
File Control and Collaboration

Professional tier and above includes PDM Standard for version control, revision management, and secure file access. Ultimate adds full 3DEXPERIENCE Platform connectivity for cloud-based collaboration across locations and teams. For teams that need enterprise-grade data management, SOLIDWORKS PDM Professional is available as a separate product.

  • PDM Standard included in Professional+
  • Version control with check-in/check-out
  • Automated revision workflows
  • Cloud share and markup for external review
  • Integrates with DELMIAWorks ERP

PDM and ERP together: If you are running DELMIAWorks for manufacturing operations, SOLIDWORKS PDM feeds part data (weight, material, cut length) directly into your ERP for purchasing and production planning. Learn more about SOLIDWORKS PDM
SOLIDWORKS AI
Intelligence Built Into Your Design Tools

SOLIDWORKS AI embeds machine learning directly into the tools you already use. AURA captures your team’s institutional knowledge so it’s never lost when someone walks out the door. LEO works alongside you in real time — suggesting geometry, resolving errors, and generating optimized shapes you wouldn’t have reached through a traditional design process.

  • AI-assisted sketching, mating, and feature suggestions
  • Design Guidance generates optimized shapes from parameters
  • AURA surfaces collective design knowledge across your team
  • Your designs are never used to train AI models

Common Questions About SOLIDWORKS Design

Professional adds PDM Standard for file management, the Toolbox standard parts library (hundreds of thousands of bolts, screws, and fasteners), design cost estimation, PhotoView 360 rendering, and ECAD/MCAD collaboration tools. If your team has more than one engineer or you need version control on your files, Professional is typically the right starting point.
Standard includes basic simulation wizards (SimulationXpress) for simple stress checks. Professional does not add additional simulation tools. Premium adds full linear static stress analysis (FEA), motion analysis, and thermal studies. If you need to validate designs under load or simulate mechanisms, Premium is the tier to look at. For advanced nonlinear, dynamic, or CFD simulation, separate SOLIDWORKS Simulation packages are also available.
Yes. All SOLIDWORKS Design tiers support import from STEP, IGES, Parasolid, ACIS, STL, and many native formats including Autodesk Inventor, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, and CATIA V5. The new 2026 AI features (like auto-generate drawing) also work on imported geometry, not just native SOLIDWORKS files.
Ultimate adds full 3DEXPERIENCE Platform connectivity: cloud-based design, cloud simulation, cloud manufacturing documentation, and enterprise collaboration tools. It is aimed at teams that need to work across multiple locations or want to connect their CAD data to cloud-based lifecycle management. For most small-to-mid manufacturing companies, Premium covers what you need. We can help you evaluate whether Ultimate adds value for your specific workflow.
SOLIDWORKS models feed directly into SOLIDWORKS CAM for toolpath generation, SOLIDWORKS Inspection for quality documentation, and SOLIDWORKS Composer for work instructions and assembly guides. If you are running DELMIAWorks as your ERP, PDM passes part data (BOM, weight, material) into the ERP for purchasing and production scheduling. This is where Morphos adds the most value: we understand the handoff from engineering to the shop floor and configure the system so data flows cleanly downstream.
Yes. You can upgrade from Standard to Professional, Professional to Premium, or Premium to Ultimate at any time. You pay the difference in annual subscription cost. We can walk you through what each upgrade gets you and whether it makes sense for your current projects.
