Can you buy HSMWorks now?
No new HSMWorks entitlement is available. Autodesk removed HSMWorks from new commercial Fusion subscriptions and other new offerings on March 25, 2025. Customers with a qualifying Fusion subscription purchased before that date can continue using HSMWorks until March 25, 2028. Autodesk says all HSMWorks access stops on that date, including Flex.
Shops checking whether they can buy, renew, or temporarily access HSMWorks and what the budget question should be now.
A replacement quote. The right cost comparison depends on machines, posts, users, validation work, and the target CAM system.
HSMWorks availability by customer situation
| Situation | Current status | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| New buyer in 2026 | Not available New Fusion purchases after March 25, 2025 do not include HSMWorks. | Choose a currently sold CAM path rather than an archived HSMWorks SKU. |
| Existing qualifying Fusion customer | Temporary access Autodesk says access can continue until March 25, 2028. | Confirm that the HSMWorks entitlement is visible in Autodesk Account before changing or replacing the subscription. |
| Autodesk Flex user | Temporary access Flex remains an option only until the retirement date. | Use Flex as a bridge, not a post-2028 plan. |
| Any customer after March 25, 2028 | Access stops Autodesk says customers will no longer be able to download, access, or use HSMWorks. | Complete backup, validation, and cutover before the entitlement is removed. |
What does HSMWorks cost in 2026?
There is no meaningful new-seat HSMWorks price in 2026 because Autodesk does not sell a new HSMWorks entitlement. Old price lists describe an offer that a new customer can no longer purchase. Existing customers may still see a renewal amount tied to an eligible Autodesk agreement, but that is contract-specific and does not extend HSMWorks past the published retirement date.
For a shop planning the next system, the useful budget is broader than software:
Software and roles
Programmer, reviewer, shop-floor, simulation, and data-management access can price differently.
Posts and machine models
Standard posts, custom behavior, probing, rotary kinematics, and multi-channel machines change the implementation scope.
Rebuild and validation
Tool libraries, templates, repeat jobs, training, and representative-part proofing are part of the transition cost.
The buying question has changed
The useful question is no longer “What is the HSMWorks price?” It is “What current workflow reproduces our parts, posts, and revision process with the lowest transition risk?” Start with the HSMWorks alternatives hub, then validate the shortlist against a representative job.
Should an existing customer renew or replace a subscription?
Do not cancel, replace, or restructure an Autodesk subscription on the assumption that HSMWorks will follow automatically. Autodesk's current support guidance says a Fusion license purchased before March 25, 2025 may retain HSMWorks when renewed, while a new seat purchased after that date does not receive the entitlement. Confirm the assigned product in Autodesk Account and get the renewal treatment in writing before making a contract change.
Renewal can preserve runway. It does not remove the deadline. Use that runway to inventory what the shop depends on and run the new workflow in parallel.
A practical plan before the retirement date
Verify the entitlement
Record the Autodesk account, subscription, assigned users, installed version, renewal date, and whether Flex is being used.
Inventory the working system
Collect posts, tool libraries, templates, machine definitions, setup sheets, NC files, and representative repeat jobs.
Choose the next platform
Compare Autodesk Fusion, SOLIDWORKS-side CAM, and other CAM systems against the work the shop actually ships.
Validate in parallel
Prove posts, tool data, workholding, simulation, setup documentation, and code on a representative part before production depends on the replacement.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy a new HSMWorks subscription in 2026?
No. Autodesk removed HSMWorks from new commercial Fusion subscriptions and other new Autodesk offerings on March 25, 2025. A new Fusion purchase made after that date does not include a new HSMWorks entitlement.
Can an existing HSMWorks customer keep renewing access?
Autodesk says qualifying commercial Fusion subscriptions purchased before March 25, 2025 can continue to download and use HSMWorks until March 25, 2028. Autodesk support also advises renewing an eligible existing Fusion license rather than replacing it with a new purchase. Confirm the entitlement in Autodesk Account before changing the contract.
How much does HSMWorks cost now?
There is no current new-seat HSMWorks price because Autodesk no longer sells it as a new entitlement. Existing renewal amounts depend on the customer's Autodesk agreement. Archived HSMWorks prices do not answer what a new buyer can purchase in 2026.
Can I use Autodesk Flex for HSMWorks?
Yes, but only as a temporary route. Autodesk says Flex access remains available until March 25, 2028. All HSMWorks access, including Flex, stops on that retirement date.
